The Student Center at the heart of Dubai’s Academic City was designed to meet the needs of university students, focusing on open spaces surrounded by greenery. In order to create a usable open space that can be used year-round, despite the harsh temperature, the project itself was elevated, creating a continuous field of green. Fragments of usable space were imagined throughout, creating structures that provide shade and functionality. Elaborate design elements create the skin, massing, and materials of the project, with mobile louvered panels that evolve to reflect the seasons.
